1967 Victory over North Narrabeen – 1967 Team and Committee

The Club’s team strength had been growing strongly and by 1967 suddenly we were on top. We would take on all comers so the ultra-strong North Narrabeen team were invited to Merewether in May that year. Conditions on the day weren’t good and so local knowledge of the break no doubt assisted. We ran out winners 223 to 218. Not unsurprisingly, the win came from one resounding heat trouncing by 3 Merewether juniors – Ian Moore, Peter Cramp and Kent Ladkin. Merewether was proving something that had been there from the start but was now being built into the psyche – fostering junior talent.
